future enhancement ideas

Postby marcozo » Fri Sep 25, 2009 2:17 pm

Some ideas suggested by users - no prioritization or further investigations made yet.

Pending
- alternative aircraft power settings / customize aircraft reserve (mass/time)
- provide possibility to save "shown overlays" in personal settings
- Flight Plan: Waypoint information and information for the legs should be shifted by half a line in height. This would make clearer that leg information are in between the waypoints.
- Flight Plan: The same I would recommend for the input fields for planned Altitude / Flight Level.
- Printed Flight Plan: it would be great to have empty fields to enter data that occur during Flight. e.g.: Start Time, Landing Time, Frequencies, ... and per leg ETO, ATO, QNH, Squwak and other comments.
- Rework waypoints for US - loading takes too long
- Cooperation with CoPilot (http://www.ljd-tech.com/copilot/)
- provide Minimum Safe Height / Altitude band based on the terrain map
- show vertical dimensions of airspaces (eg in Terrain Map)
- multilanguage
- Name flight plan export files (gpx or fpl or whatever) meaningful, ie with name of the flight plan in goVFR.com

Implemented
- reverse flight plan (2009-09-24)
- allow a flight plan to be saved as 'private' (not visible for others) or 'public' (visible for others) (2009-11-08)
- allow to delete a flight plan (2009-11-08)
- show personal waypoints as map overlay (2010-03-08)
- include Wind Correction Angle (WCA) in flight plan (2010-03-08)
- include Mass&Balance for aircraft (2010-03-08)
- plain text export of flight plan (2010-03-08)
- on the flight plan, always show specific Com Frequencies (such as Zurich Info, Geneva Info, 130.35) to choose (June 2010; "own frequencies")
- have "my own frequencies" for Com or Nav frequencies, which may be added on evey leg of a flight plan (June 2010)
- show available seats on flight plan overview (June 2010)
- define different TAS/IAS for each leg of flight plan (eg. climb) (October 2010)
- allow export to airnavigation pro (January 2011)
- alternative route (December 2012)
- great circle line between 1st and last waypoint (December 2012)
- ability to set km/h / kg instead of kt / lbs // set default in settings (December 2012)
- user settings: possibility to enter waypoints/coordinates in different formats (December 2012)
- allow export of flightplans as ".fpl" directly to Storage Card (December 2012)
- Allow general altitude input to be valid for all waypoints (December 2012)
- in flightlog, replace the abbreviation "SOG" with "GS" (December 2012)
- allow deleting a flight plan directly on the flight plan overview (instead of first opening the flight plan) (December 2012)
- call waypoints 1, 2, 3 instead of waypoint1, waypoint2, waypoint3 to get more overview on mobile devices (December 2012)

Rejected
- show the coordinates as well in swiss grid: no planar projections on goVFR. all calculations strictly follow a spherical earth.
- easier/more common search submit: deprecated function

Hi

I made some testflightplans and I am not able to delete them. Probably I am only too stupid to do that, otherwise I would like to have that possibility.

But again: Great tool, has the potential to become a standart application for vfr pilots!

Hi Philipp

Thanks for your comments. As of now, you can not delete your flightplans, but we take it on the wish list anyway.

good evening ladies and gentlemen,

altough mid of January: a happy 2010 for all. Many happy landings.
I just filed a route for the Kyritzer Holzflugtage Rallye from May 13th to 16. This of course is a non commercial event. I will show all the participant the online plan to show the route. Most of them are from the UK. This might be a good distribution boost for this apps.
Are there any further suggestions to enhance it?

Best regards!

Hubert

Hi, Great site thank you!

Can you please have an option for the fuel reserve to 30 min for helicopters?

Hi philpilot

Sry, I moved your post to this section. It's a good point to make this a bit more customizable.
I will take this one on the list of future enhancements together with the existing entry "alternative power setting"

Happy landings,

Hi,
This is a really great tool and getting better very fast. For long distance planning though, it would be cool to have a default "Great Circle" line drawn between departure and destination points. This way it would be possible to plan a route as short as possible along that line. I recently used goVFR on a flight from CH to Turkey and it worked great!

Hi, im testing for "future" use with Air Navigation Pro (iphone)

Is there a reason for the limited number of vor/dme in The Netherlands?

I'm missing for instance:

Spijkerboor SPY 113.3 Noord 52° 32.4' Oost 4° 51.2'
Amsterdam AMS 113.95 Noord 52° 19.97' Oost 4° 42.33'
Schiphol SPL 108.4 Noord 52° 19.93' Oost 4° 44.99'
Pampus PAM 117.8 Noord 52° 20.1' Oost 5° 05.5'

Is there any chance to a dutch airspace overlay?

Hi Martin

Thanks for your message. We're working on it.
Meanwhile, if you can provide an appropriate and up-to-date KML (Google Earth) overlay for the Netherlands you can send it to me so I can include it in goVFR.

Happy landings,
Philipp
