Modern vs Classic
Depending on your preferences (--> see "Get Started") a so called "modern" or "classic" flightplan is calculated.
- both use the same information in the background
- both provide the same core information (course, com and nav), except....
- ...that the "modern" version offers
- a small map focusing every checkpoint en route
- driving-directions-like visualization of the route
That goVFR gives you the full liberty of selecting any possible point on the Earth as a waypoint, implicates some special handling of the generated flightplan.
If the waypoint is not imported from a predefined waypoint, there are naturally no additional information such as COM / NAV frequencies.
Again, goVFR goes the other way round and finds all such points with additional information that are somewhat close to where you clicked for you.
You will not be able to save any changes you make on this screen. This should guarantee an always up-to-date calculation of the COM and NAV information every time you (or another community member) opens this specific flightplan.
Modern specials
Clearly uses more paper when printing. Maybe not that handy for a lonely wolf in an egg beater, but with some very nice features once you get used to it.
The direction angle graph:
1) Orientation is always "track" (not "north"): you come from 6 o'clock and if you don't turn you will fly straight direction 12 o'clock
2) Direction angle. In this example, turn right for about 45°
3) True course: In this example, the new true course is about 200°
In depth
Not to get confused, you still keep the full control on your side: goVFR offers the closest 4 COMs, the closest 5 NAVs respectively. It's your choice!
Initial, the nearest points are displayed.
To open the list of near COMs and NAVs, click on the blue circle/dot in the corresponding field of the row.
Classic:
Modern: 
On the expanded list you can see all details such as distance, course, frequency.
At the end of the list is always a blank field labeled "none".
Put the one you prefer to the top of the list using drag-n-drop technique and close the list with a click on the blue triangle.
Besides this picking of COM and NAV points, the altitude is the only editable field on this screen.
